A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MCLOUTH, KANSAS, REQUESTING THE INCLUSION OF THE CITY OF MCLOUTH WITHIN THE TERRITORY OF JEFFERSON COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT NO. 9 AND AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF CITY OF MCLOUTH FIRE DEPARTMENT FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT TO JEFFERSON COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT NO. 9

WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of McLouth has reviewed the provision of fire protection services to the citizens of the City of McLouth; and

WHEREAS, the City of McLouth deems it beneficial to the citizens of McLouth to be included within the territory of Jefferson County Fire District No. 9, which currently covers the areas outlying the City of McLouth; and

WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of McLouth conducted a hearing on January 21, 2020, as required by K.S.A. § 19-3605, after having published notice not less than twenty (20) days prior to said hearing, of its consideration to petition the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners for the City of McLouth to be included within the territory of Jefferson County Fire District No. 9 and the transfer of assets of the City of McLouth Fire Department to Jefferson County Fire District No. 9; and

WHEREAS, a hearing was conducted on January 21, 2020 and the City of McLouth, having been duly advised in the premises, finds that it would be beneficial to the citizens of McLouth for the city to be included within the territory of Jefferson County Fire District No. 9 and for the assets of the City of McLouth Fire Department to be transferred to Jefferson County Fire District No. 9.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of McLouth, Kansas:

THAT the City Council of the City of McLouth, Kansas petition the Board of County Commissioners of Jefferson County, Kansas for the inclusion of the City of McLouth within the territory of Jefferson County Fire District No. 9; that fire protection be provided to the citizens of McLouth by Jefferson County Fire District No. 9; that the assets of the City of McLouth fire department be transferred to Jefferson County Fire District No. 9 if such petition is granted; and that the City enter into such agreements as may be necessary to carry out the terms of this Resolution.
